ESSAY DAY TODAY! :) I must complete a process essay by the end of the night! So I am effectively using my time...blogging. :) Thankful for fun ways of expression in school today!
Topic: Ways to Deal with Fear
-Gradual Immersion (ex: fear of snakes, start with gummy worms, then upgrade to lizards and frogs)
-Denial (ex: positive- you aren't afraid of snakes, or: negative- there is no such thing as a snake)
-"Phone a Friend" (ex: take friend with you to the reptile dome)
-Face your Fear Head on (ex: get a pet snake)
This looks like "Mr. Bump" who always runs into things from those picture books! Grandma has some of the "Mr." or "Little Miss" books at her house and so when I saw this picture I thought of her! It is ALSO an alarm clock! How funny! When the alarm sounds it only turns off after being thrown against the wall! Clever! But poor Mr. Bump!
The purpose of this picture: I took a NAP today! It was wonderful! There is nothing like being able to hit snooze as many times as you want right after school! No, I did not throw my phone (alarm clock!) against a wall! Ha! Thankful for extra sleep today! :)
Giving thanks in all things,

Day of REST!

We had Nitro practice today! This is such a GREAT experience for me! My sister is also on the team which makes it very special! We have performances scheduled for Nebraska Danger game (arena football!) halftimes! We perform with awesome, super talented girls from all across Nebraska-- every practice is an adventure and I LOVE it! So thankful for Nitro!
Supreme Court test tomorrow for American Government! I am thankful that we have such a structured government! Although I don't agree with some of the things that individuals with political influence believe, I am thankful that we live in a nation under God and that He is in control!
Giving thanks in all things,

Happy Wednesday!

I got a cavity filled today! This picture (taken from Google images) is not mine- this is actually a clip from a blog talking about a group that encouraged dentists to buy back kid's Halloween candy two years ago (facinating!)- but this candy welcomes cavities with outstretched arms! Right now I am SO thankful that the cavity is GONE that I really don't mind (well, maybe I mind a little) not being able to smile or taste or drink through a straw! And when I regain feeling in the right half on my face, I'll be thankful that I can smile, taste, and drink through a straw! :)
Thankful for the Guys/Dolls dance on Saturday for the halftimes of the basketball games! (Hello, prepositional phrases!) This year we have two songs, Let's Hear it for the Boy & Footloose! The reason for THIS particular picture is BECAUSE this is the design for the back of the t-shirt! FUN! We have been working hard on these dances and will be up working on them late tonight! It is SO worth it!
Lastly, I am thankful for whoever has already figured out important math equations that make my life so much easier! We started trig functions today- I'm not sure what this picture is of (I know it's trig though!)- but I have a feeling that someday I might know some of this!

Giving thanks in all things (even trig!)

First day of BLOGGING! :)

Ah! Blogging! What an adventure!
I have stepped into blogging with the purpose of listing three things I am thankful for daily!
Today-
I am thankful that I have a WONDERFUL family!
  • Playing in the snow (YES! SNOW!) was SO fun yesterday! Our dog, Cupcake, joined in on making snow forts, playing king of the snow hill, observing icicles, and having fun snowball fights!
  • We just have so much fun snowed in together! We watch family movies, play games, read, and just hang out in the kitchen talking and laughing!

I am thankful for savvythanks.blogspot.com (.org?) for the following reasons:
  • FUN to create! I accidentally slept in...ha!...and so I have all this wonderful time on my hands!
  • When I am 82 (if you glance at my profile info, as I am 50 years old now, 82 is only a few short years away) I will spend my time reading old blog posts and laughing at myself.
  • Blogspot didn't reprimand me for using a background picture copy-pasted from google. :)

I am thankful for the Count of Monte Cristo!
  • Yes, Alexander Dumas' a hundred gazillion page book I am reading for school! I LOVE it! My Nannah introduced us to the movie (her favorite!) a while back and I have loved the story ever since!
  • An old, long book seems worth it to read- It is long enough that you will have it around for a while, and it has survived for so many years that there must be something great in it! :)
Giving thanks in all things,
Savannah
